Weardale Railway 'Back on Track'

Weardale Railway is seen as a major asset in helping bring tourism into the Wear Valley area and helping with regeneration through tourism, creation of training and employment opportunities and through the provision of community transport for local people. Upward Curve PR helped with an opportunity to develop a summer campaign which included the development of the 'Back on Track' Brochure.

We suggest producing a brochure which:

  • Promoted the service and 'specials'
  • Contained a free ticket offer and competitions
  • Promoted volunteering opportunities and 'open sessions'
  • Reassured public and stakeholders about the railways future
  • Promoted events such as the Beer Festival and the 'Santa Specials'
  • Promoted passenger service

This was distributed through TIC's, nearby attractions, local authority outlets, mainline railways stations as well as through one of the local papers.

Corporate Literature - ECT Group

Upward Curve has produced the last five reports for leading social enterprise ECT, an organisation which has grown and diversified year on year.

For the 2007 annual report, the challenge was to capture the size and diversity of ECT - in terms of people (staff and employees) and services. ECT provides a range of public services, from recycling, refuse collection and street cleansing, through to health care, community transport and engineering. People are key to ECT's service - from the staff delivering them to the people using them.

The agency managed the project from start to finish, agreeing the key messages, the design concept, commissioning and art-directing the extensive photography (with shoots happening simultaneously across the country), overseeing the copy-writing, and project management through to print and distribution.

The end result was an annual report ECT is proud to distribute to staff, stakeholders and potential clients.

Promoting Services - Southwark Housing

Southwark Council has been conducting major improvement works on its estates to bring housing up to the Government's 'Decent Homes' standards. Much of the work has been centred around the Walworth area with some disruption necessary to bring about the ultimate benefits.

The Area Housing Manager commissioned Upward Curve to produce three newsletters explaining to tenants on different estates the benefits of the ongoing works which affect them. The Agency interviewed Southwark staff, researched ongoing projects, organised photography and managed the project through design and print, to compile three estate-specific four-page newsletters.
